MicroVision Medical has developed, for all patients on the Intensive Care Unit, a handheld monitor for detecting early microcirculatory derangements. This Microscan^TM and automated analysis software scores a (dys)functional microcirculation, which is truly independent of global hemodynamic parameters.

Microcirculatory derangements are predictive of death and when corrected will reduce (prevent) multi organ failure and death.

Therefore, resuscitation should include, as an additional guiding parameter, the microcirculation as an early warning and treatment guiding tool at the ICU with septic patients.
